Students and recent graduates usually have a healthy dose of curiosity and optimism. The immense amount of new knowledge they acquire in a short period of time normally leaves these people inspired and full of innovative ideas. This is often reflected in their research projects and thesis reports/articles. To highlight these people’s brilliant work and to encourage them to further elaborate, share, and realise their ideas, the Knowledge Centre Global Health (KCGH) is awarding a prize to recent graduates (Bachelor’s or Master’s) and doctors who conducted an innovative and impactful research project on global health topics such as:

  • Planetary Health: Exploring the impact of environmental change on human health.
  • Health Equity: Addressing disparities in health outcomes within diverse populations.
  • Infectious Diseases: Investigating the spread and control of infections, vital for a densely populated and highly connected country like the Netherlands.
  • Public Health Systems: Studying the efficiency and adaptability of health systems, a key concern for the Netherlands as it continues to innovate in healthcare delivery and policy, for instance considering challenges such as rising healthcare costs and limited capacity.

To celebrate and promote the exceptional work of these young scholars, KCGH awards prizes to:

  • Two recent graduates (Bachelor’s or Master’s) who have conducted an innovative and impactful thesis on these or other global health themes – EUR 500 each.
  • One recent PhD graduate who contributed significantly to new global health insights – EUR 1.000 to spend on further professional development, such as continuing the work presented in their thesis, attending advanced training, consulting with experts, or supporting activities to secure project funding.
