The Netherlands Society for Global Health (NSGH, formerly NVTG) has launched Global Health Perspectives – a new online platform for sharing knowledge, stories and reflections in the field of global health. The platform is now live at www.globalhealthperspectives.com and succeeds the Medicus Tropicus bulletin (MTb), which was in publication for over 60 years.
In the article that opens the platform, the editorial team reflects on this transition. They describe how Global Health Perspectives builds on the legacy of MTb, while embracing the changes the field has undergone — from a focus on tropical medicine to broader global health challenges, and from a printed newsletter to a dynamic online space. The new platform is designed to be more open, accessible, and responsive to the diverse voices active in global health today.
A collective space for learning and sharing
Global Health Perspectives is an initiative of NSGH, developed in collaboration with the Knowledge Centre Global Health (KCGH) and the Training Institute for Global Health Professionals (OIGT). The platform offers space for a wide range of contributions: articles, interviews, opinion pieces, event reports and visual storytelling.
The first contributions include reflections on gender bias in healthcare, a report from the symposium Colonial History & Global Health, and articles addressing climate, migration, and community-based care. The editorial team welcomes future contributions from across the field — from students to seasoned professionals.
