Award ceremony 1st KCGH competition for the applicability of global health knowledge in the Netherlands

In recent months we have challenged master's students and PhD students to think about the applicability of their research on a global health topic for the Netherlands. Some of them not only thought about it, they proceeded to participate in the first edition of this KCGH competition.

No fewer than 11 master's students and 5 PhD students submitted their research. They used a form to describe the potential applicability of their research for the Netherlands. What a challenge!
A professional jury, consisting of various global health experts, among others, is now deciding about the winners of the prize. The winners will receive a monetary prize and a “Introduction session”. During this session, a plan will be made to bring the idea one step closer to actually executing the idea.

And they are almost there! The moment when the winners are announced is getting closer ... On Friday afternoon, 10 December we will hold an online event in which, in addition to the award ceremony, we will discuss the usefulness and application of global health knowledge in the Netherlands. The moderator is Jonas Rosenstok, program leader at Fit4Surgery and board member at the Tweega Medica Foundation. Also in the studio are Anke Tijtsma, director KCGH, and jury chair Albertine Baauw, paediatrician and director of the training institute International Healthcare and Tropical Medicine (OIGT). Participants in the competition will submit statements and polls about their research in advance, which we will discuss together. The jury members, including Piet-Hein Buiting (director-administrator of the Jeroen Bosch Hospital) and Christel Jansen (Principal Consultant at Vintura) will also contribute.

The afternoon will certainly also be interesting for those who are not involved in the KCGH Competition. Anyone who is interested in health and healthcare, and the applicability of knowledge from abroad in the Netherlands, is welcome and can participate via the chat. Together we will make it a beautiful, joyful afternoon!
